  1. ALMA Integrated Computing TeamCoordination & Planning Meeting #3 Socorro, 17-19 June 2014 ACA planning Manabu Watanabe, George Kosugi NAOJ

  2. Porting RH6.5/64-bit to ACACORR • build of ACACORR is passed both on RH5.5/32-bit and on RH6.5/64-bit for 2014.2. • ACACORR runs on RH6.5/64-bit without failure, but… • The data structure and numbers in the BDF for RH6.5/64-bit are different from those for RH5.5/32-bit. • Now, we are trying to find the origin of the differences. • We currently have dual test environments, one for RH5.5/32-bit and the other for RH6.5/64-bit. • Until when should the dual environments last?

  3. Replacement of ACA computers (1) • Current Fujitsu RX300S3 will be replaced with new Fujitsu RX100S8. • COJ-CC-1, COJ-CPM-1, COJ-CPN-0xx will be upgraded. • COJ-DMC-1 will not be upgraded. • G9XE, a custom made PCI-X/PCI-express conversion box, should be installed at the same time. • G9XE is stably working since February 2014 in Japan. • 4 G9XEs for 4 quadrants. • A prototype system for 1Q was setup in NAOJ • The feasibility of the plan will be established by proof before deployment at AOS.

  4. Prototype for 1Q in NAOJ (front) COJ-CC-1 COJ-CPM-1 COJ-CPN-001 COJ-CPN-002 COJ-CPN-003 COJ-CPN-004 COJ-CPN-005 COJ-CPN-006 COJ-CPN-007 COJ-CPN-008 G9XE

  5. Prototype for 1Q in NAOJ (rear) COJ-CC-1 COJ-CPM-1 COJ-CPN-001 COJ-CPN-002 COJ-CPN-003 COJ-CPN-004 COJ-CPN-005 COJ-CPN-006 COJ-CPN-007 COJ-CPN-008 G9XE

  6. Test status of the new computers • COJ-CC-1 (real-time OS) • RX100S8 runs on kernel-2.6.29.4-rtos-3.7.1 • RX100S8 receives 48ms TE signals with PEX-466102 (a new RS485 IF card) which is installed on a PCI-express bus and RX100S8 runs in HARD mode. • RX100S8 runs with an external network interface card (E1G42ET) which is installed on a PCI-express bus. • COJ-CPM-1/COJ-CPN-0xx (Standard OS) • RX100S8 runs on kernel-2.6.18 (RH5.x/32-bit) • RX100S8 receives spectral data stably from the ACA correlator through G9XE. • Integration test with HWbegins in NAOJ this month.

  7. Replacement of ACA computers (2) • Operation of ACA correlator at AOS should be stopped for deployment and testing of the new system. • It takes 5 days by a provisional estimation. • Is February 2015 best time to do? • RH5.x/32-bit or RH6.x/64-bit at that time? • Further details are described in the plan document. • The document will be available in a couple of weeks.

  8. Software development • 4-bit linearity correction for 2014.2: ICT-3118 • CDP makes a correction for the nonlinearity at the 4-bit quantizer in the ACA correlator. • 3-bit linearity correction will be upgraded in Feb.2015. • The ACA correlator will have a type of the digital baseband power meter inside which publishes the baseband power detected at DTSRs every 16ms or hopefully every 1ms. • Then CDP uses the baseband power to make 3-bit linearity correction per integration: CSV-2810 • CDP may take over FPS (Frequency profile synthesis) • depending on the discussion of the next session…. • hastings, the log message analysis tool, is under study.
