In this session, we explore the importance of close reading as a critical instructional strategy. Participants will read and discuss a journal article, connect it to Common Core Learning Standards (CCLS), and view a three-part classroom video demonstrating effective close reading techniques. Through reflective journaling, partners will share insights on the rationale behind close reading. We will follow a structured procedure for implementing close reading, emphasizing annotation, discussion, and evidence-based responses to text. Together, we aim to build capacity in focused reading strategies.
