  9. 6th Form Independent Learning • Academy’s drive to improve attainment & encourage independent learning • Additional designatedtimetabled5th lesson for Independent Learningfor each subject. • This lesson for independent learning is distinct from the Independent Study Period / Private Study still on 6th form timetables.

  10. Teachers will set 2 sections of work: • 1.Homeworkwhich is collected in and marked accordingly • 2.Weekly Independent Learning. tasks for the ‘5th Period’ which is checked and verified by the teacher but not necessarily marked

  11. Private Study Lessons Choose to work in either the 6th Form study area or Library. It is in this lesson that students should complete their Homework (draft, correct & redraft) Registers taken

Independent Subject Lesson ISL: ‘5th lesson’ • Be prepared in advance! • Students registered in classroom by teacher • Positive working atmosphere • Individually / Pairs / Small groups • Research / Extension work • Teacher present supervises / checks your plan for the lesson / may be able to help/advise • Internet – own laptop
