  4. Critical Thinking • Does not rely on emotion • Does not involve only one aspect • Does involve all aspects of life

  5. Critical Thinking Is • Thinking through thinks in a logical manner • Forming inferences or conclusions • Making careful judgments and sensible evaluations • Determining your own core values • Forming a reasonable opinion

  6. Critical Thinking Is • Evaluation the “big picture” • Placing a value on something after carefully studying it • Making well-founded decisions

  7. Preparing for Critical Thinking • Brainstorming (explore new ideas) • Approach the problem for several perspectives • Chart each perspective according to its: • Benefits • Limitations • Consequences • Cost • Timing

  8. Critical Thinking Steps • Identify the problem? • List everything you know about the problem • List everything you do not know about the problem • Know your choices • Think about the positives and negatives of each choice

  9. Rank the choices from best to worst • Pick the choice that is best for you • Study what the consequences may be after you select the choice • Ask whether your are happy about the choice • Ask whether you would make the choice again
