Laboratory Technician (intern) ---2 Vacancies • Role: • The Lab Technician is responsible for all facets of testing from the set-up and take-down to reporting of results. The majority of the workday is spent in a laboratory setting working with new and used oils, solvents, chemicals and equipment utilized to complete testing. This person is responsible for ensuring safety and good housekeeping practices during daily operations. • RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES: • Conduct quality tests following work procedures and ISO guidelines. Reference appropriate resource documents online. • Enter and upload test data into Excel or Lubrizol internal software. • Understand and perform testing calculations; ability to identify and resolve incorrect calculations and process the calculations manually if necessary. Recognize data inconsistencies before uploading. • Plot reference data on control charts. Understand control charting and when to investigate potential issues. Must be able to identify, troubleshoot, and work closely with customers to resolve issues or problems. Appropriately elevate the situation to supervisor and/or customer when necessary. • Recognize priority conflicts of testing; prioritize and communicate test schedules to customers. Run multiple tests at a time. • Facilitate sample flow between work area and other areas in the department. Communicate issues to appropriate personnel. • Recognize validity of test data. Notify supervisor regarding non-conformances and be able to identify root causes of inconsistent test data. Perform routine troubleshooting and repair on tests and equipment. • Articulate and communicate testing issues to co-worker, supervisor, and customer. Provide timely status updates. Work with customers on special requests. Follow-up on customer questions or concerns. • Actively get involved with contributions to safety, housekeeping, environmental and process improvement initiatives. • Update work instructions and procedures as necessary; forward recommended changes to area document controller. Maintain thorough documentation and associated information following ISO guidelines. • Move and cross train to help areas of highest need focusing on overall group needs. • REQUIREMENTS – EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS: • Education: • BA/BS in a Science related field (Biology, Environmental Science, or Geology) preferred. • College chemistry or equivalent science coursework • Knowledge, technical/professional skill: • Safety driven behaviors • Ability to work with shifting priorities; • Working knowledge of statistics • Computer skills (MS Office). 3. Laboratory Blend Technician—2 Vacancies • Role: • The Blend Technician is responsible for blending experimental blends and finished products in a timely and accurate manner. A Blender needs to have 100% accuracy at all times due to the nature of our chemical mixtures. Ensure safety and good housekeeping at all times. • RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES: • Conduct quality blending according to the blend card instructions that are listed. Retrieve proper samples from the material staging areas to prepare blends. Weigh gram weights precisely up to ten thousandths in accuracy, proofread final jobs to make sure there are no mistakes. Enter the completion date and Blender initials in the Work Order Blend Menu section of Scheduler Inventory. Package the blend in the proper containers that are labeled correctly. Deliver the finished blends to the proper shelves for distribution to different test labs. • Reference appropriate resource documents online such as MSDS sheets and waste tracking information. This function is needed during the entire blending process. • Identify issues that might arise during blend mixing and document the information. This is done electronically in the “Maintain Blender Information” section of the Scheduler Inventory System. • Communicate recommendations to the Foremen or Project Managers if you have discovered solutions to a problem during the mixing process. Communication can be by E-mail, phone, or in person. This is important due to process improvement information that can be captured and recorded. • Provide timely status updates to the Foremen on special requests or projects that have been moved up in priority. Be able to multi-task to maintain productivity during priority changes. • Participate in and perform lab safety inspections. Help develop safety and environmental initiatives. Operate ventilation systems and venting dampers to improve air quality. • Perform routine or minor repairs on motors, scales, and temperature probes. Troubleshoot and report operational / equipment problems that require instrument or maintenance support. Initiate timely, cost-effective solutions acceptable to all blend technicians. • Maintain and strive to develop process improvements and cost savings measures with the focus on improved technical capabilities in the Blend Area. • REQUIREMENTS – EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS: • Education: • BA/BS in a Science related field (Biology, Environmental Science, or Geology) preferred. • College chemistry or equivalent science coursework • Knowledge, technical/professional skill: • Computer skills, Excel/Microsoft Word, web enabled mainframe. • Mechanical aptitude, familiar with standard mixers and scales. • Good basic math skills (decimals, fractions and proportions). • Able to work with the metric system (volumes and weights). • Able to deal with extended periods of tedious concentration. • Know all waste streams and follow regulations. • Understand Global Blend Test Request Systems/Scheduler Inventory and Active Learner (computer based safety training). • Language Skill: • Understand both written and verbal English Pls submit your resume, quoting job title to: 1, our office: Room 1103 Everbright International Trading Center, HaibinRd, Jida District Lubrizol Additive (Zhuhai) co.
