Historical Perspective • Established in 1955 • Oldest graduate business school outside North America • International Collaborations • Established in collaboration with the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce, University of Pennsylvania. • USAID $10 million grant on establishing facilities at IBA. • Fifty prominent American professors were assigned to IBA, while over 70 IBA faculty members received advanced degrees from Wharton and USC • Received Charter – Degree Awarding Institute Status in 1994 Leadership and Ideas for Tomorrow

Faculty of Computer Science (FCS) • Center for Computer Studies (CCS) Established in 1983 • Initially provided diplomas in Computing related fields • 1987: MBA(MIS) degree formally offered • 1998/99: BCS and BBA(MIS) • 2002: MBA(MIS) evening program • 2005: PhD in CSE/ICT/MIS • 2008: • BCS being re-launched as BS (Computer Science) • BS (CS) • MS (CS) - Evening • Expansion of PhD program • Over 700 graduates • 2009: FCS established Leadership and Ideas for Tomorrow

Faculty of Computer Science Degree Programs - Durations • BS (CS) : 4 year • MS (CS) Evening: 3 – 4 years • BBA (MIS specialization) : 4 year • MBA (Specialization in MIS) : 2 year • MBA (Specialization in MIS) Evening: 3 – 4 years • Ph.D. in the following areas: 3 – 6 year • Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) • Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) • Artificial Intelligence • Operations Research, Cryptography • Numerical Analysis, Numerical Computing Leadership and Ideas for Tomorrow

MS Curriculum • 30 credit hours • MS Thesis (Optional) • Multiple specialization tracks • Must take courses from at least two tracks • Within a specialization track a minimum of two to a maximum of 4 courses may be taken, each of 3 credits. Each track has their own set of prerequisites – usually BS level courses. • Specialization tracks: • Net-Centric Computing • Human Computer Interaction • Intelligent Systems • Software Engineering • Information Management • Theoretical Computer Science Leadership and Ideas for Tomorrow

MBA MIS Specialization • MBA Management Information Systems (MIS) specialization • Balanced exposure to business, computer science and MIS subjects • 12 core business courses (common with all specializations) • 4 core MIS courses (from a pool of six courses) and • six electives, which may be either business or MIS courses • 6 credit IS project • Core MIS Courses • Information Systems Development: Theory and Practice • Enterprise Integration • Network Architecture for Business • Logistics & Supply Chain Management • IT Project & Change Management • Business Intelligence • Students specializing in MIS need to take six electives. Eligibility Criteria for Undergraduate programs • Undergraduate Programs: • BS(CS) • BBA • Eligibility for Undergraduate Programs For BBA Program • Intermediate (minimum 65% marks), or • ‘A’ Levels (minimum of two ‘B’s and one ‘C’) • Grades of General and AS level courses will not be accepted For BS Program • 60% marks in Intermediate (Pre-Engineering), OR • 60% marks in Intermediate General Group with Mathematics, OR • 1B and 2Cs in A-Level (with Mathematics) • Grades of General and AS level courses will not be accepted • Procedure • Admission details along with test dates will be published in the Daily DAWN • Website : www.iba.edu.pk Leadership and Ideas for Tomorrow
