  2. Overview of Device Design • Constructed out of… • PVC pipes and joints • Plastic tubing • Plastic tubing is held to the frame with zip ties and super glue • Tube follows a downward sloping spiral • A regular BB is used as the ‘roller coaster car’

  3. Stored Energy • At the top, it is all potential energy. • This is derived by PE= mgh. • As the ball begins to roll, potential energy is converted to kinetic energy.

  4. Design/ Construction Issues • Make sure zip ties were not too tight because they pinched the tubing and would not allow the BB to roll through. • After the tube was placed correctly, super glue was used to insure that it did not move.

  5. Conclusion • The roller coaster takes approximately 15 seconds. • It occurs at constant acceleration due to gravity. • It uses the concepts used throughout EF 151!
