1. Grappa: Grid access portal for physics applications Status & ScheduleApril 2002 Shava Smallen
Extreme! Computing Laboratory
Department of Physics
Indiana University
2. Motivation for Grappa Lots of GriPhyN/Grid services
Requires a good deal of expertise more than what many users want to know
Common approach is a Grid portal
4. Current Version Prototype based on existing technology (XCAT Science Portal)
Learning experience
Demo at ATLAS Software Week - March 2002
Allow user to submit sequence of job options files to US-ATLAS testbed resources
File staging, remote job option file editing, basic monitoring, ad-hoc viz
Packaged with Pacman and posted to http://iuatlas.physics.indiana.edu/grappa
5. Current Architecture I will expand on the boxes in blue in future slidesI will expand on the boxes in blue in future slides
6. Next Version Virtual Data Browser based on Virtual Data System 1.0 (May release date)
Geared towards release
Currently working on design
Provide functionality analogous to that of a web browser
Creation of virtual data interface to VDL to create transformations and derivations
Searching of virtual data interface to VDC API
User Profile credential mgmt, resource mgmt, etc.
7. Next Architecture(tentative) I will expand on the boxes in blue in future slidesI will expand on the boxes in blue in future slides
8. Where are we now?
9. Tentative Schedule
10. Relevance to Testbed Current version
Individuals can install demo in own space
Next version
Initially start with one portal and then increase with usage
Dependencies (other than VDT)
Java 1.3 (probably 1.4 as soon as CoG supports it)
MyProxy server (at least 2)
