A man, fatigued from a year of continuous fasting, approached Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to seek guidance. When asked why he had tortured himself, the Prophet emphasized moderation, suggesting fasts during Ramadan and one day each month. As the man insisted on fasting more, the Prophet allowed three days of fasting each month, advising endurance within the limits. He also clarified that non-fasting is permissible for the elderly and sick, who should feed the needy for each day missed. This guidance highlights the balance between devotion and self-care.
