Lesson Plan Format Performance objectives (examples) • Measure some part of the vehicle in reference to some part of the roadway and demonstrate precision lane positioning of the vehicle. • Describe and identify gauges, warning lights, and instruments and explain what normal and abnormal readings indicate. • Demonstrate and explain the risk-prevention behaviors needed to enter traffic flow, secure and exit the vehicle. • Perform precision turns from a stopped and from a moving position.

15. Open both the Driving Routes Template.doc and the Behavioral Patterns.doc files from the CD or downloaded from the ostea.org website.

18. 1. Determine which objectives and corresponding behaviors you wish to evaluate your students on using your lesson plan and the list of objectives and behaviors.

Steps to Building the Drive Route • Once you have done your lesson plan, and identified the objectives pick the area and go for a drive • Use a voice recorder to remember the turns, intersections, important points, and objectives of the route. • (you could also have a passenger video tape the route as you drive)

20. 2. Enter your drive route directions in the gray shaded areas on Drive Route Template RT. Make sure to list all the critical locations that you want to evaluate behaviors related to your objectives.

24. Once you have highlighted the text go to the Edit Command and select copy. (If you know the other short cuts using the mouse or the keyboard commands use those to speed up the process.)

26. Go back to the Drive Route Template RT file and go to the location you were going to use the copied behavior.
