在Live Aid演唱会过去20年后的今天，非洲仍然是这个星球上最贫困饥荒的地区。因此，2005年夏天，Bob Geldof雄心勃勃地举办了一次更大规模的跨洲系列演唱会，以此来募集资金，减免国际债务，唤起民众觉悟。在这四碟套装中，第一碟收录了这场演唱会最壮丽的片段，包括伦敦、费城、多伦多、柏林和莫斯科的精华。为了突出和谐感，整个表演跨越了不同的音乐类型。哪些老摇滚乐迷偏爱Elton John、The Who、Sting以及无处不在的Paul McCartney。而元老中最闪耀的当数Roger Waters和他的Pink Floyd前队友的重新聚首，并且完美演绎了Dark Side of the Moon、Wish You Were Here和The Wall等专辑中的5首歌曲连唱。而他们的排练花絮则被收录进了第4碟的花絮中。这场秀可以满足几乎各种口味的观众，举个例子来说吧，它包括了当代英国和澳大利亚的摇滚乐队Coldplay、Jet、Razorlight等，同时也有Hip Hop好手Will Smith、Jazzy Jeff等，另外，流行歌手有Robbie Williams、Mariah Carey、活泼Black Eyed Peas等。除此之外，还有Coldplay和Richard Ashcroft二重演绎了一首Bittersweet Symphony；Stevie Wonder和Rob Thomas以及Adam Levine的三重唱；Josh Groban 和McCartney以及George Michael表演了Drive My Car。在伦敦现场结束之前，Macca带领着所有参与歌手合唱“Hey Jude”，这时，我们相信各国的领导们将会因此而着手对非洲的援助，减轻非洲的饥荒。

1984年，英国歌手菲尔柯林斯（Phil Collins）看到新闻中非洲依索匹亚等地区的人民，长期处于饥荒与营养不良而死亡，遂在圣诞节之前提出构想，由鲍伯盖朵夫（Bob Geldof）担任召集人，由数十位当红艺人以「Band Aid」为名共同灌录单曲义卖，将义卖所得援助非洲饥民，单曲「他们知道现在是圣诞节吗？」（Do they know it's Christmas ?）于焉诞生。这张单曲推出后，立即在全世界引起回响，光是英美两地就卖出约三百廿万张。 英国歌坛的此项义举，美国歌唱界自然不落人后，由黑人歌手哈利贝拉方提（Harry Belafonte）提出建议，之后获得众大牌歌手的鼎力支持，由昆西琼斯（Quincy Jones）担任制作人，在1985年2月28日，45位当红歌星云集洛杉矶的录音室，灌录了「四海一家」（We are the world）这首义卖单曲。
