energy audits
Energy Audits
  • PG&E will conduct an on-site audit of your facility, equipment and bills
  • Audit can evaluate efficiency, DR and distributed generation opportunities
  • Audit report itemizes 1) no cost 2) low cost and 3) investment grade recommendations.
  • Includes estimated energy/cost savings, investment paybacks, and available PG&E incentives.
  • Use this report as a Project Roadmap to help prioritize and plan your energy investments.
pump tests and repair
Pump Tests and Repair
  • Ag Pumping Efficiency Program (APEP) available to irrigators and MUNI Water Ag
  • Pump Tests: Pays $150 - $200 subsidy towards test costs - Customers select from a list of participating testers at
  • Pump Test report indicate water flow rate, pumping lift, discharge pressure & energy input, and identifies repair opportunities
  • Incentives: APEP pays .08/kwh saved for pump repairs. Post-test report is required
  • Seminars: Available for your area with a mobile pump testing unit
  • Help: APEP pump efficiency hotline at 1(800) 845-6038
  • Rebates are the fastest and easiest way to get cash back for common energy efficiency retrofits
  • Hundreds of pre-determined rebates are available in different equipment categories
  • Check out the Ag and Food Processing Rebate Catalogue for all rebates that apply
    • Tank insulation, greenhouse heat curtains, sprinkler to drip, pipe insulation, high bay lighting retrofits, etc…
  • Applications get sent in after the project is completed, along with your paid invoices
  • Rebate is delivered in about 4 weeks

Customized Incentives

  • For projects not available on the rebate catalog
  • Standard incentive rates paid per kWh or therm reduced
  • PG&E will pay up to 50% of project implementation cost for retrofits up to $3.6 million - can go to facility owner or owner’s project sponsor (ie,vendor)
  • Calculation support is available
  • Important! PG&E needs to pre-approve your project and do a pre-inspection of your existing equipment
savings by design new construction program
Savings By Design New Construction Program
  • Encourages high-performance building and process system design
  • PG&E offers free consulting services to help you optimize the performance of your planned expansion and calculate savings and rebates on different options you may be considering
  • Performance-based incentives are based on energy savings beyond either Title 24 or industry standard practice, up to $500K/project
  • Bring your project to PG&E as early as possible for the best result. A project manager will be assigned to usher your project through the program
retro commissioning rcx
Retro-Commissioning (RCX)
  • Offers audits and incentives to do bring existing equipment up to optimum operating conditions (i.e., control systems, wine tank insulation repair, HVAC)
  • Provides an audit, report, and incentives to pay down the project to a 1 year payback
competitively selected third party programs serving ag food
Competitively Selected “Third Party” Programs serving Ag/Food
  • Comprehensive Dairy Audit and Retrofit Program (RSG) – Integrated Audits, technical support, project support, incentives
  • Dairyrebate program (Ensave) offers rebates on VFDs, precoolers, lighting, compressors, vent. Fans, controls, and motors.
  • Industrial Refrigeration audit and retrofit program(VaCom) provides audits, rebates, controls strategies, ongoing monitoring and facility ops training
  • Enovity Boiler Efficiecy Program – Focusing on efficiency projects that can be paired with NOX upgrade requirements
  • Ag Mercury Vapor retrofit program (RHA) provides free mercury vapor retrofits for ag communities and also acts as a fundraiser for local ag organizations for each retrofit submitted.
  • Comprehensive Food Processing Program (Global Energy Partners)
education and training
Education and Training
  • Education and Training
    • Hundreds of classes offered throughout the year - green building, LEED, solar, Title 24, HVAC, lighting, process systems, materials, daylighting, etc.
    • San Francisco, Stockton, partnership locations, and web-based learning. Click on “Education and Training” on home page for a full schedule
  • Industry-specific and System-specific
    • Irrigation efficiency, winery and vineyard workshops, dairies, food processing
    • Refrigeration, boilers, compressed air, motors and VDS, steam systems
    • Go to home page, top right to search for classes
emerging technologies to codes standards
Emerging Technologies to Codes & Standards
  • Emerging Technologies: Brings new opportunities into the portfolio by identifying market-ready emerging energy efficient technologies and deploying them. Examples:
      • Electrodialysis for winery tartrate stabilization
      • WWT - oxygen injection, solar-bee pumping
      • Dairy refrigeration design improvements
      • Thermosorber for hot and cold water apps
      • Field precooling efficiency improvements
  • Codes and Standards: Sunsets incentives for technologies by working with the CEC to codify them
