  2. Programme Rep Conference – UDo II • The UDo II Project has been setup to replace the current University portal ‘UDo’ and provide a product which looks and feels better than the existing service. The story of the project so far……………………….

  3. Programme Rep Conference – UDo II • During 2008 a great deal of time was spent gathering the requirements from staff and students for the new product and also gathering feedback on the existing portal. • Workshop What do you think are the top three issues with UDo? (5 Minutes)

  4. Programme Rep Conference – UDo II Here is our top three ‘hit list’ from the feedback we gathered: 1. The navigation is very poor. It’s hard to find your way around and the way you get to things is not logical. 2. The design looks dated. 3. There are some resilience issues i.e. Although much more reliable than it used to be, there are still times when its responds slowly and on some occasions crashes at peak times.

  6. Programme Rep Conference – UDo II • During the early part of 2009 we researched and selected the best technology to act as a platform for UDo II. After much deliberation and feedback we chose SharePoint as the core technology for UDo II. • A few examples of existing SharePoint Implementations of many are…………….

  10. Programme Rep Conference – UDo II • The project has commissioned external SharePoint experts to ensure that we get the absolute best product for our students. • We are developing plans for a much improved infrastructure that will radically overhaul the resilience of our portal services.

  11. Programme Rep Conference – UDo II • A UDo II pilot will be live over the coming weeks. In its earliest stages it will focus on getting the right design and navigation for the product. We feel this will start to address at the outset, core issues with UDo. • A design theme has been chosen for the pilot by a focus group of stakeholders, including staff from all faculties/departments and an equal number of students.

  12. Programme Rep Conference – UDo II • This does not mean that the design is set in stone! It will change based on feedback from the pilot group. • The pilot group has at present over 100 staff volunteers from all faculties and departments. We are also actively seeking student volunteers.
