  2. Electricity has been a boon to mankind ever since it's invention. However, what most people don't realize is that the power that drives so many appliances, systems and megastructures at once has to be handled very carefully. Apart from electric shocks, it also has the power to destroy everything, all at once. With so many house fires and fire in the factories being reported, no wonder people aren't adhering to the many restrictions and precautions that need to be taken to ensure order and optimal functionality of all your systems. • 01 • ALTONA ELECTRICAL SERVICES Let's trace some essential points to remember to have proper electrical protection at your home and office alike:

  3. OUTLETS SHOULD BE USED WISELY All the outlets in your home are made to deliver a defined amount of power which you avail by plugging in your devices or appliances. If you plug in too many things at once on an outlet it poses the risk of causing a small fire due to explosion. When requiring to plug many devices at once, consider using a power strip which is also energy conservatory and match your needs safely and securely. • ALTONA ELECTRICAL SERVICES Furthermore, always remember to follow the manual or manufacturer's instructions before you plug in any of your devices in the outlets of your house. It is essential to know what device should be plugged in on which outlet. Don't overload your smaller outlets with high-wattage devices and appliances like your blowers or bigger appliances as that can pose the risk of your power line tripping frequently. Even appliances like your coffee maker and heaters should be used on a power switch. Make sure the plugs fit aptly into the power outlets if they don't, the power supply can be disrupted or can cause electric shocks to the person handling the device. If you are unable to fix it yourself, call an electrician as soon as possible. The most important thing to remember with outlets is that you should always directly place the plugs of your major appliances like television, washing machine, refrigerator, AC, geyser, etc. into the wall outlet. Do not bypass using extension panels, plug strips or even surge protectors. 02

  4. USE YOUR APPLIANCES SMARTLY Firstly position your heat-producing appliances like air-friers, oven, toaster and coffee makers away from goods that are potentially combustible like paper, gas cylinders, paper napkins, etc. Unplug or switch off the appliances on the countertops like those in the kitchen such as sandwich makers or toasters and bathroom appliances like hairdryers or diffusers when not in use. Don't use portable heaters in bathrooms as they are not as safe as ceiling units or a strip heater placed on the top. If you still want to use them be sure to get one that has been approved by a recognized laboratory. • ALTONA ELECTRICAL SERVICES Moreover, don't forget to use stabilizers with high voltage appliances to safeguard against tripping and power failures. Additionally, keep your kitchen exhaust fans clean and free of greasy dirt and dust so there are no impediments in them functioning smoothly. 03

  5. KEEP CHILDREN AND PETS SECURE • 04 All children and pets are notoriously explorative, which usually poses many dangers for them. For this reason, always keep your unused electrical outlets secure with safety caps. Tie up all loose cords and have circuit breakers installed for proper security and grounding done so while playing they don't get tangled or have any risks of electrical shocks. • ALTONA ELECTRICAL SERVICES
