  3. Birth of Jesus -census- Bethlehem- Micah prophecy fulfilled. Incarnation. Name Jesus means God saves. Presentation- taken to Temple to be presented Simeon- old priest Anna- prophetess Both declared Jesus to be Messiah Finding in the Temple- Jesus was teaching in the temple, everyone was amazed at his knowledge and wisdom

  4. Herod dies and Judea is divided between his three sons. Part comes under direct rule of Rome, other parts have Jewish princes. Unrest- political and religious. John the Baptist begins to preach against social injustices. Repent and prepare for the Messiah. John baptizes people with water– Jesus with the Holy Spirit and saving grace. John baptizes Jesus- Holy Spirit descends and God the Father proclaims Jesus as Son of God
