  5. Advanced Features • Find-Me printing is a roaming print service that allows print jobs to find users based on their physical location. It's sometimes referred to as "Pull Printing", "Push Printing" or "Follow Me" printing. It's a great solution for large sites operating a common printer fleet. • Location Aware Users simply print to a single global virtual queue, and through the use of VCC terminals or print release stations Print-trac knows which printers are nearby, and can pick the best one without bothering the user with the details. • Using filters and restrictions Print-trac offers advanced filter options to provide network administrators with the ability to filter or restrict print jobs using a set of rules. Restrictions can be based on cost, page count, paper size, color, file name or extension and duplicate jobs.

  6. How Print-trac works • Print-trac Educational intercepts the print job at the server level, calculating the cost for the use and deducting the cost from the account associated with the users login. • Administrators can define quotas by scheduling credit allocation to user accounts at defined intervals, or users can add funds to their accounts using a Kiosk or prepaid cards implementing a self managed user pays system

  7. How Print-trac works Printer usage is calculated on a cost per page basis with advance options available for: • Color or Black and White • Large paper sizes • Double sided printing • Different pricing by printer

  8. How Print-trac works • In a school, university or library environment Print-trac is usually run in a visible restricted mode. Users exceeding their credit or quota are automatically denied access to the resources. • Staff members are granted access to shared accounts to track printing by department or faculty. Almost all settings are optional and completely configurable

  9. Print-trac Advantages • Easy to deploy and manage. • 100% web-based administration allowing admin control from anywhere on the network. • Give selected users management control via a familiar web browser interface. Browser control means there is no need for separate management software. • Integrates with your network to import user group and card information from Active Directory, Novell eDirectory, LDAP, a flat file or other domain sources.

  10. Print-trac Deployment Unlike other solutions Print-trac Education is a fullcross platform system supporting all major operating systems including mixed environments. Server Client Windows Servers All windows versions Linux based CUPS or Macintosh OS 10.4+ Samba servers Linux/Unix Workstations Mac 10.4+

  12. User Management • Manage users’ account balances, access privileges and track their usage. • Selected users can be granted “unrestricted” access allowing them to draw below their allocated quota or account balance. Ideal for managers or staff. • Account creation rules, automatically create new user accounts on demand and define the new account properties based on group membership, including: • Initial credit to allocate to new users Privilege Level Credit/Quota allocation schedule

  13. Shared Accounts • Selected users can charge to shared accounts for departments, cost centers, faculties or projects. • Control access to shared accounts via PIN or network group membership. • Users select the account via popup client software. • Give accounts budgets and control when accounts are replenished and whether overdrafts can be used.

  14. Printer Management Using Print-trac’s print filter rules, administrators can alleviate printer jams, queue hogging, and avoid wasteful print jobs • Each printer can have its own cost per page • Give discounts for using duplex printing. • Automatically delete duplicate print jobs • Deny B & W print jobs to color printers • Delete print jobs with incorrect paper size • Jobs are directed to printers based on job attributes to ensure efficient use of your printing resources

  15. System Highlights • Nolicense limits on number of clients ,servers or printers. • Account access control using domain groups, user accounts or Pin \ Password. • Import users and groups from Active Directory, LDAP servers. • Supports all printer types including large format printers. • 40 Day fully operational free trial.

  18. Print-trac Client • After logging onto their workstations the Print-trac client popup appears displaying the logged in users account balance. • As the user prints their account balance is adjusted and the cost of the print job is deducted from their account.

  19. Using shared login The client popup at first will show the shared login account with a $0.00 balance, when a print job is sent to the printer the user will be asked for their username and password to authenticate their account once the user is authenticated the popup displays the users account balance.

  20. User Account Details By clicking “Details” in the client popup window the user is presented with browser to log into their account and view their account information.

  21. User3 Account Details The users account details are shown, selecting one of the options in the window gives more detailed information.

  22. User3 Transaction History All account activity is tracked in real time. Users can print the report details by selecting one of the print options located on the bottom of the window or by selecting the show filter option at the top of the window and entering a date range for the report.

  24. VCC Print/Copy Terminal • The VCC terminal is connected to the system through an encrypted network connection allowing communication with Print-trac and the printers on the network. • The terminal has both a Key Pad with arrow keys for scrolling through menu options and print job lists and a Card Reader for Magnetic Stripe cards or optional Barcode reader for Account Entry

  25. Using the VCC Terminal • Users swipe their card or enter their account number (PIN numbers can be used for additional security) • Select either copy or print • As copies are made the VCC unit tracks the pages copied and deducts the cost from the account. • The VCC auto detects if the page being created is color or black & white and the paper size being used. (Depending on copier model). • Different costs can be charged for color, black & white, paper size or duplex copies (Depending on copier model). • When copying is complete user presses enter to close account.

  26. Alpha Touch Screen • Offers the same functions as the VCC terminal but with a user friendly graphical interface.
