  1. “COST”European Cooperation in the field of Scientific and Technical Research COST supports the co-operation of Scientist Although it does not provide funding for research activities, it will fund the co-operation efforts of scientific groups across Europe (mainly traveling costs to meetings, workshop/conference organization costs, dissemination costs, short scientific exchanges of researchers and other instruments).

  2. COST Structure in Romania • Romanian COST Secretariat • Domain Committees • Management Committees • Working Groups • National Networks of Researchers

  3. Romanian Cost Secretariat Ministry of Education and Research-National Authority for Scientific Research-Mircea Sbarna - National CoordinatorEcaterina Gică – National Representative CSO – COST

  4. How can I join COST? 1. If your laboratory or institution is in a COST member country (this has nothing to do with your own nationality) you can join the Action 2. Member of the Management Committee of an Action in case your country has not yet nominated 2 scientists but is already signatory of the Action 3. Member of the Management Committee if your country is not yet signatory of the Action. In that case your country has first to sign its participation in the relevant Action. (Note: If your country wishes to become member 12 months after the approval of the Action the approval of the Management Committee of the Action is required) 4. Member of a working group of an Action 5. Invited expert to specific events of an Action (Meetings of the MC, WG, workshop participation etc.)

  5. Rules for becoming a member of a COST Action 1. Launching a new Action / proposal on the open call 2. Contact the National Secretariat for eligibility 3. Eligibility: institution with research area, national funds for research, national network of researchers4. Official Letter to the National Secretariat from two institutions 5.Approval at national level, intention to sign MoU

  6. How can I join COST? Contact Romanian COST Secretariat: • Letter of Interest from your institution : • Your institution activity is based on research and development in the field of COST Action in which you are interested • Your institution is owner of a research contract at national or international level (CEEX, Grant CNCSIS, private company) for support research activity • Nomination of a national partner ( University, research institution, private company) • Proposal of 2 researchers for Management Committee ( CV attached) • Accept letter from the second institution • List of national network It would be recommended that you also contact the chair of the Action about your interest.
