  1. How to Replace a Laptop Motherboard's Fuse If you tried to turn on your laptop but it didn't respond, the fuse near the power jack may have blown. You will be unable to start your computer if this fuse fails. The electrical current will halt at the fuse and will not reach the motherboard components. It is not difficult to replace this fuse, however you will need to disassemble your laptop.

  2. Step 1 Remove the battery and unplug the laptop's power supply. Step 2 Obtain a laptop disassembly manual in order to obtain access to the motherboard. The process of disassembling a laptop differs depending on the brand and model. Disassembly instructions are available online or from the manufacturer of your laptop. Step 3: Locate the motherboard fuse. This fuse will be located directly above the power jack. Step 4 Remove the fuse from the motherboard using a tiny screwdriver or a pair of needle-nose pliers. Step 5 Replace the old fuse with the new one. Step 6 Reassemble the laptop and turn it on.
