PHYSICIAN CAREER AND JOBS RELATED TOO • A physician is somebody who diagnosis and treats patients diseases, physiological and psychiatric disorders, injuries and other health related problems. • Also known as: • Cardiologist, Dermatologist, Doctor, Epidemiologist, Family Physician, Gynecologist, Medical Doctor, Neurologist, Obstetrician, Oncologist, Radiologist, Surgeon, Urologist

  3. REQUIRMENTS FOR THIS PROGRAM • Pre-Medicine studies at the University levels • 3-4 year Medical Doctor (MD) degree program at accredited university • Post-Graduate training in family medicine or another specialty

APPLICATION ELIBIBILITY • Citizenship: You must be a Canadian Citizen or landed immigrant in order to apply. • MCAT: You must have written a Medical College Admission Test • Minimum Full-Time Academic Years: Must have completed 2 full years of University Education, in order for for an academic year to be complete you must have 24 credits for which a grade has been recorded over a consecutive period of 8 months. • Minimum GPA: 3.2 in the minimum requirements for Alberta residents, while Non-Alberta residents must require a GPA of 3.6.

  5. MONEY! (SALARY)……cha ching! • Average amount…260,000 a YEAR! WoooooW • Salaried physicians who work for hospitals and other medical organizations receive benefits in addition to their salaries. Benefits may include health and life insurance, pension plans, and paid vacation and sick days. Doctors who work for themselves must supply their own benefits.

  6. REQUIRED HIGH SCHOOL CLASSES • ENGLISH 30-1 • PURE MATH 30 • 3 other Grade 12 classes…usually… • BIOLOGY/ PHYSICS/CHEMISTRY

  7. WHAT I LEARNED… • It takes a lot of good grades and time to get into a Medical School, you have to be pretty much a genius and be willing to get to school for many years after High School. • Long long road…with happy destination of lots of money and helping people.
