  2. WIFI • What is ‘Wi-Fi’? WI-FI is a mechanism which allows electronic devices ( laptops , mobiles , PDA’s) to exchange data over a computer network, Wi-Fi can connect to the internet or wireless network. • Advantages of WI-FI: • It can connect to local area networks (LAN) • It is wire free (wireless connection) • Can reach one accesses point to another. • Dis-advantages of WI-FI: • Wi-Fi interferes with other networks such as Bluetooth , micro wave ovens ,and cordless phones. Because it uses the unlicensed 2.4GHz spectrum. • Has a limited range, you need to be within a certain range to access Wi-Fi. • The connection to the internet sometimes fails.

  3. Bluetooth • How does Bluetooth work? Enables electrical devices communicate with each other using a wireless connection, for example sending a message through Bluetooth using a mobile phone. • Bluetooth uses radio frequency(RF) to connect with other devices , RF can pass through opaque objects such as walls. • Advantages of Bluetooth: • Uses a small amount of RF to work (less than 1000 watts). • Automatic because the share a network protocol that allows them to share data. • The protocol can reduce interference with other Bluetooth devices. (e.g. Three people use Bluetooth, two are sending data to each other and one isn’t. The protocol wouldn’t interfere with the other device that is not sharing data). • Dis-advantages of Bluetooth: • Signal failure if there are many mobiles in the room , operating Bluetooth. • Small range – 15-30 feet. • Bluetooth uses the power of the device that is using it , e.g. a mobile will become low battery if it is operating Bluetooth.

  4. WAP Wireless Application/Access Protocol • W.A.P is a communication protocol that accesses data over a mobile network.
