  1. Top 9 Reasons to Become a System Administrator Never-ending job satisfaction. If you like to solve new and exciting problems, working as a system administrator will provide that in abundance. Problem- solving is fun, and real-life puzzles are incredibly satisfying to crack. In fact, one of those interesting problems that you might stumble upon while working as a sysadmin. Learning on the job is your job. Remember your university years? How each semester you had to pay thousands to continue studying. Well… Once you get a job as a System administrator, you will get paid to keep exploring. To keep up with the pace of new additions, you will have to get techniques and new ways of keeping your fleet of computers afloat. System Administrator saves the day (sometimes). Whenever there is a problem with the IT architecture, you will be there to save the day for your colleagues. It sure is fun to be able to help out other people. Hearing the occasional “HOW DID YOU DO THAT” is a great feeling too. Your job will be your new playground. As a System Administrator, you have the responsibility to keep all your servers up to date; both software and hardware. This means you’ll be first to test all the cool new gadgets and be in charge of deciding whether this could indeed help the company. There will never be a dull moment! Come to think of it; we also have a shiny toy that you should try out (for free of course)! Unemployment will be a thing of the past. There is an ever-increasing demand for people who can handle servers and come up with solid, dependable ways of maintaining a network of servers. Regardless of whether the job title System Administrator — as long as there are servers out there that need maintenance and monitoring, your expertise will be in demand. Working Conditions Most system administrators work in pressured and busy office environments. A lot of work will be carried from their office, for example fixing hardware. However, they will often be called upon by several employees to fix computer problems around the office. For this reason, the job can be tiring, since a lot of time is used moving around the environment. System administrators normally work about forty hours per week but, if required, they may have to work overtime if the system needs urgent work and adjustments. System Administration Skills in High Demand IT Managers often tell me that they have a hard time finding qualified System Administrators. These managers require people with a depth of knowledge to maintain their infrastructure, but there are not enough highly skilled people to fill those roles. Since the most business- critical Operations are running on ; it’s important to employ people who are experts in administering those systems. Career Progression System administrators may choose to move into several different jobs. Common choices include software programmers or administrators who specialize in various fields, such as security administrators and network administrators. The majority of system administrators choose to deny managerial roles if they are offered. This is because they enjoy the technical side of their job and this is decreased to more senior positions. System Administrator Salary Oracle Solaris System Administrators, on average, are on a substantially higher pay scale than other System Administration positions. They also tend to have a high job satisfaction rate. As the technologies available continue to improve, their skills enable them to work on challenging projects that expand well beyond the everyday daily system administration tasks. WWW.DBEXAM.COM
