  2. EQ: How do you prepare for first grade? First Grade Supply List • Book bag (no wheels) • colored pencils • box of 24 crayons • markers • 24 plain, SHARPENED, #2 pencils • 2 large, Pink Pearl erasers • 1 box of pencil top erasers • 1 pack of Expo, fine-tip, black, dry erase markers • 6 glue sticks • Fiskars, blunt-tip scissors • 2 pocket folders with brads • 2 spiral notebooks (1-subject) wide-ruled • 1 pack wide-ruled loose leaf paper • 1 handwriting tablet • 2 boxes of tissues • 2 bottles of waterless hand sanitizer

  3. EQ: ARE YOU READY, RESPECTFUL, AND RESPONSIBLE? • The first grade behavior policy is based off of three expectations: • Be ready and prepared for school and learning. • Be respectful of others and their property. • Be responsible or yourself, your actions, and your learning.

Behavior Policy Positive Incentives Consequences Daily/Weekly basis Daily basis Plans can be classroom specific First grade/school policies Rewards may include: treats, Students “pull sticks” Prizes, center time, etc. Leveled consequences “Dragon Dollars” to begin in Oct. (time-out chair, social stories, etc.)

EQ: WHAT WILL YOU LEARN THIS YEAR? • Math • Investigations (hands-on) • Skill and Drill (daily) • Supplemental teacher resources • Topics mastered: addition, subtraction, fractions, measurement, money, time, geometry, problem solving, story problems, graphs, estimation, and rounding. • Reading • Harcourt series • C.O.R.E. groups • Topics mastered: phonetic spelling patterns, reading comprehension, FRY words, vocabulary, retelling, main idea and details, story sequencing, and story elements. • Writing • Write From the Beginning • Thinking Maps • Writer’s Workshop • Genre specific writing samples • Topics mastered: capitalization, punctuation, complete sentences, genre writing, parts of speech, and writing across the curriculum. • Science/SS • Topics mastered: weather, seasons, magnets, plants, sound, folktales, and map skills Georgia Performance Standards: http://www.georgiastandards.org
