Reported Reasons Why Faculty May Not Report • Belief that they have “insufficient proof” • Perceived bureaucracy of the system • Do not want to “ruin the student’s life” • Unrewarded • Fear of being perceived as a bad teacher • Fear of conflict/legal complications • Do not want to go to Academic Integrity Review Board

  7. Why Faculty Should Report • To stop students from potentially “cheating” their way through the UCSD degree • Students can learn from ethical failure • Helps to create an academic integrity culture • Reduces future cheating in their classes

What is the AI Office Doing? • Academic Integrity Advisory Council • Education/Outreach to Faculty • Department presentations • AIM Student Organization Petition • Faculty Newsletter (quarterly education) • CTD Workshops (quarterly) • Education/Outreach to Students • F2F with Academic Integrity • Newsletter (quarterly education) • AI Tutorial (freshmen)

  9. How CUE Members Can Help • Influence faculty to follow Policy and report suspected cheating • Encourage faculty to serve on AIRB • Invite me to a faculty meeting • Reach out to me re: faculty complaints and concerns
