  3. PROMINENCE • NAMES MAKE NEWS KANYE WEST, MILEY CYRUS, DONALD TRUMP, MICHELLE OBAMA MAKE NEWS WHEN THEY GO SHOPPING, GO TO CHURCH OR DO OTHER THINGS WE DO EVERY DAY. • PLACES CAN BE PROMINENT: WHITE HOUSE • THINGS CAN BE PROMINENT: VERA WANG GOWN • DATES CAN BE PROMINENT: CHRISTMAS

  4. PROXIMITY • READERS ARE INTERESTED IN EVENTS THAT HAPPENED CLOSE TO THEM • NEWS ABOUT MR. MATT WILBURN, PRINCIPAL AT STONE BRIDGE IS IMPORTANT HERE BUT NO IN KALAMAZOO.
