  2. What you need to get started: You will need to gather the following materials to begin: 3x5 index card An ink pad and paper Soap or Hand cleansers An old shirt or an apron

  3. Did you know??? Every person in the world has a unique thumbprint. • A person has the same thumbprint all his life. Even though a person's hands grow, his thumbprints stay the same. • Even identical twins have different thumbprints. • If you injure the tip of your thumb, your skin will grow back in the same pattern and eventually your original thumbprint will return.

  5. LEFT THUMB RIGHT THUMB Make your own Thumb Prints Use an ink pad to make a Left and Right Thumb print in the square. Use the 3x5 index cards. Compare it to the examples in the previous slide. What characteristics do you find?

  7. What makes a thumb print? • The Papillary Ridges of the middle layer form your finger prints! • These are unique to you and genetically determined. Papillary Ridges
