  1. Anglicky v odborných předmětech"Support ofteachingtechnicalsubjects in English“ Tutorial: Engineering technology Topic: Resistancewelding Prepared by: Ing. Josef Martinák st. Projekt Anglicky v odborných předmětech, CZ.1.07/1.3.09/04.0002 je spolufinancován Evropským sociálním fondem a státním rozpočtem České republiky.

  2. Resistance welding

  3. Spot welding

  4. Spot welding – projection weld

  5. Resistance welding • Plates are pressed by copper electrodes • At the projected spot is heat welded

  6. Resistance seam welding between rollers • Plates are welded in successive steps by seam welding • Plates are pressed together by rollers • Pulsing welding current creates dense overlapped spot welds creating a continuous weld

  7. Resistance welding • Joint place is heated to required temperature • Pressure is applied to the place of joint • Electric current passes through welded material • Welding does not use additional material • Alternating single faze current of 1 to 20 Volts and up to 100 000 Amperes is used

  8. Friction welding • Friction welding creates a heat in the place of weld • Rotary friction welding • Welded are bolt’s heads, steel tubes • To a non-moving part is pressed rotating part • After achieving welding temperature rotating is stopped and pressing force is increased • When weld is cooled down, collar is removed

  9. Butt welding with flashing • Parts are clamped in jaws • Slightly pressed against each other • After switching on of electric current an electric arc is created • At the place of contact parts are melted • When the currentswitched off, parts are pressed together • Welding edge is created • This method is appropriate for steels with high carbon content

  10. Question and rehearsal • Explain welding procedure: • Pressure butt welding • Pressure butt welding with flashing • Seam welding
