It plays music and had more of a chatty atmosphere in comparison to radio 4 . It does not have radio dramas.
Radio 2 reaches a very different audience to radio 4 , it attracts more younger listeners.
In 2009 Radio 2 again won the Music Week Award for National Radio Station of the Year, an award it has won for several consecutive years.
Weekday evenings feature specialist music, including jazz, folk music , blues, country and western, reggae, classic rock, show tunes , and biographies and documentaries on musical artists and genres. Its all these genres that makes the station so accessible, because it attracts all types of people.
Radio 2 reaches such a wide audience, it has over 3000 more viewers than radio 4 and just over 5000 more than capital fm.
One of the reasons for this could be that they have shows that bring their listeners back to their youth.
