g2p/gEP Beamline Status 8/30/11
Mechanical Systems • Region 1: • All design work complete, material procured, installed, and pumped down. • SR PS bunker/cooling blower to be assembled within a week. • Region 2: • Harp alignment/installation into upside down girder. • Upside down girder installation expected within the week. • Region 3: • FZ1 and FZ2 stands and magnets are installed. • All arm/girder material has been designed and all but a couple of components which support the arms has been ordered and scheduled for delivery by the end of September. • Assembly of FZ2 arms, viewer girder, and downstream diagnostics girder remain – scheduled for early October. • Final 2B alignment planned for mid October.

Electrical Systems • Region 1: • Calorimeter installed and tested. Final calibration in September. • SR will have final hookup and test in September – already verified performance and new control scheme in the lab. • Region 2: • Once the upside down girder is installed, all diagnostics and vacuum monitoring must be connected and proven. • Compton upgrade/repair completion is questionable. • Harp controller chassis SW is the long pole in the tent. • Region 3: • FZ1 and FZ2 magnet magnets are installed and connected. • Once diagnostics are installed in early October, they must be connected and tested. Low risk. • Desire to test FZ magnets sooner than later, LCW may push this out until late September.
Electrical Systems – cont’d • BPM/BCM Receiver: • Functioning on the bench; will require a re-spin of the board – due mid-September. • FW complete and functioning. • SW complete and functioning. • Will require an off board oscillator for BPM calibration. • Harp Controller: • Board and chassis completely assembled. • Will reuse as much FW as possible; should reduce required time to complete. • Reuse/standardization to existing harp SW commands should reduce required SW programming time. • Long pole in the tent; critical resource in I&C (Chad Seaton). • BPM Transport Modules: • On track for complete build, test, installation by end of September.
Areas of Focus • Tracking mechanical component delivery, assembly, installation. • Testing of DC power supplies and FZ magnets. • Completion of the Harp Controller and BPM/BCM receiver. • Completion of all required SW and control screens. • Return to Operations documentation – Yves Roblin and Eric Forman • No Show Stoppers!
