  3. ‘Australia’ Film Poster • This poster is an advertisement for the film ‘Australia’, a film set in Northern Australia at the beginning of World War II. The film follows Lady Sarah Ashley as she saves her husband’s cattle from English cattle barons.

  4. ‘Australia’ Film Poster • This poster is effective in making people want to watch the film because it shows a number of different interesting things. The most foregrounded aspect is the romantic image of Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman above the action.

  5. ‘Australia’ Film Poster • The second most foregrounded object is the image of Hugh Jackman hugging the little boy with a gun in his hand, this shows that there will be action in the film. • Another aspect of the poster showing action is the number of planes flying, which are from the bombing of Darwin in 1942.

  7. ‘Australia’ Film Poster • This poster represents Aboriginal people as nomadic or tribal people by showing the aboriginal man on the left wearing his traditional clothing. • They also show Aboriginals as compassionate people, as the young boy is hugging the man.

  8. Summary • In conclusion, this poster is effective at drawing attention from a wide audience, as well as showing relatively what the film is about. • It also portrays Aboriginal people in a stereotypical manner, however, it’s not necessarily offensive.
