JHAAN Major Superiors & Bishops Meeting was held on 29th July 2016 at SDC, Ranchi where urgent matters concerning Tribal welfare were discussed. • There was unanimous agreement among the participants that each Diocese and Religious Province of JHAAN • Total 18 Major Superiors contributed Rs. 50,000.00 each for this legal cause • 18 Major Superiors contributed

Activities…. • Response of Major Superiors to the threat of FCRA cancellation of NGOs on 15.12.2016 • As it was published in the two leading newspapers of Jharkhand • A memorandum was submitted to Mr. N.N. Pandey, IAS Secretary, Home Dept. Jharkhand by all Churches Committee Ranchi Delegation. • 73 NGOs run by religious or different Churches supported this. Positive response was received by Home Secretary

Recommendation of the Joint Meeting of RBC, CRI & CDPI 2107: • To form a Coordination Committee for mission 2020 (Election 2019 & beyond) • it is functioning so well in collaboration of Clergy, Religious and Laity. • Blood donation by 1600 Sisters of one Congregation to observe the year of mercy, to experience God’s forgiveness and unconditional love - Jamshedpur Unit

  18. Major challenges facing religious and the church in this region (mention 3). 1. False allegation of conversion –Anti conversion bill, No Sarna Code in the census, all people of Sarna religion are made Hindus 2. Land Bank, Amendments in Land Acquisition Bill, 2013 E-registration of land owned by Rel. institution, link with Adhar Card 3. No appointment/ approval in the vacant posts in our schools & nationalization of schools (change in minority school syllabus) imposing Roster Rule (appointment policies) in our minority schools, no affiliation, no opening permission for Intermediate colleges run by us. 3. Protests going on tribal status to be given toTeli & Kurmi of Jharkhand. 4. Frequent conflicts between Catholics & Sarna people

Christmas 2017 with destitute - useful clothes were distributed to the needy persons in the SD centre and Rs 23,000.00 was donated by Ranchi CRI. • A seminar on February 27th & 28th on How to teach catechism in lively manner today. • Participants: religious, diocesan clergy, youth, catholic sabha, mahilasangh, teachers of primary, high school and colleges, catechists. • 160 participants were present. • Resource Persons: Bishop AnandJojo,DD, Fr. Ashok Kujur SDB, Fr. Charles SDB, Fr. ShilanandKerketta SDB and Fr. BinayGuriya, CDF.

Increase in the Annual Contribution of Major Superiors1000.00 to 2,000.00 • In JHAANREXCO meeting held on 03/03/2018 to increase the Annual Membership Contribution of the Resident Major Superiors of JHAAN Region from Rs. 1000/- to Rs. 2000/- • high inflation rate and for the purpose to build up financial sustainability of Regional CRI.
