3. Five senses poetry is writing a poem using one line for each of the five senses (sight, smell, touch, hear, and taste) to describe the topic of your poem. • During the prewriting stage, we will complete a graphic organizer to brainstorm ideas for a five senses poem.

7. Assessment activity • The teacher will give the class several concept ideas to choose from. • The teacher will write the following concepts on chart paper for the class to see: friendship, sadness, playing at recess, doing homework. • Each student will choose one of the concepts to create their own five senses poem. • The students will use a blank graphic organizer to brainstorm sensory ideas.

Five senses poetry is a fun and easy way to describe a subject using the five senses (touch, taste, smell, hear, sight). • Each line in the poem describes the title or subject using one of the five senses. • During the drafting stage, the ideas from your completed graphic organizers can be used to write a five senses poem.
