  1. REVIEW OF ACT I • Throne Room of God-4 • Scroll on God’s lap-5 • Lamb to open scroll-5 • Six seals opened-6-9 • John gets another scroll-10 • Seventh seal--11

  2. ACT II • John sees a woman standing on the moon, sun around her shoulders, and 12 stars around her head • She is about to bear a child • Standing by to devour the child is a great, red dragon

  3. WOMAN AND DRAGON

  4. SATANS 1ST ATTACK • The Dragon is Satan • The child is Christ • Satan’s first attack is to stop Christ’s work on earth

  5. SATAN’S 2ND ATTACK • Satan tries to prevent Christ from taking His place as Savior • Michael and the good angels defeat Satan and the bad angels. • The accuser is thrown down

  6. SATAN’S 3RD ATTACK • Satan attacks the woman • God protects her for a time, times, and half a time. • This equals three and a half years, 42 months, 1260 days • This is the time of persecution led by the beast

  7. SATAN’S 4TH ATTACK • 12:17—against the offspring or children of the women • These obey God and hold the testimony of Jesus • Christians of the early centuries • Satan will attack Christians

  8. THE WOMAN • But who is the woman? • Gives birth to Jesus • Attacked by Satan but God protects her. • The mother of Christians

  9. THE WOMAN • Mary?—birth to Jesus • But not mother of Christians • Jews?—birth to Jesus • But not mother of Christians for they rejected Jesus

  10. THE WOMAN • God’s Eternal Plan • Began before the world began—Eph. 1:3-11 • Gave birth to Jesus • Satan wanted to stop it • Gave birth to Christians

  11. WOMAN=GOD’S PLAN

  12. SATAN’S FOUR ATTACKS • Christ on earth • Christ in heaven • Woman (plan) of God • Christians by persecution Revelation is to help Christians meet this fourth attack

  13. What do you remember about the 1st beast?

  14. SATAN’S TWO ALLIESRevelation 13 • The First Beast— 7 heads (kings & hills) Like Daniel’s 4th beast Rules over the earth Persecutes Christians All worship him

  15. SATAN’S TWO ALLIESRevelation 13 • So the first beast is • The Roman Empire • whom Satan brings up to help him destroy the church • A very powerful ally • Now Satan brings up another ally—another beast

  16. What do you remember about the 2nd beast?

  17. SATAN’S TWO ALLIESRevelation 13 • Satan’s second beast has two horns like a lamb • He has one purpose: • To make people worship the first beast, mainly its heads • Thus this is the Cult of Emperor Worship

  18. SATAN’S TWO ALLIESRevelation 13 • So Satan thinks he will win— • If Christians refuse to worship the Emperor they will be killed. • If they do worship the Emperor, they will have abandoned their faith.

  19. SATAN’S TWO ALLIESRevelation 13 • Either way, Satan wins. • Christ is urging a third way. For Christians to be faithful to Christ even if it means their deaths. Thus people will be drawn to a religion that means enough to die for

  20. SATAN’S TWO ALLIESRevelation 13 • The Roman persecution on the church lasted from about 90 AD to about 300 AD. The symbolic 1260 days • Millions of Christians killed. • Their faithfulness defeated Satan’s fourth attack.

  21. ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE FALL • What does 14:1, 3-4 say of the martyrs. • They are on Mt. Zion • Heaven • Following the Lamb. • Singing a song

  22. ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE FALL • 14:8 • Fallen is Babylon • A code name for Rome • So the announcement that God will soon destroy Rome • Rev. 11 and Rev. 11-14 overlap.

  23. DESTRUCTION OF THE PERSECUTOR • Revelation 15 • Those victorious over the beast • Martyrs but they won the victory • These anticipate the defeat of their enemy.
