Eims of the EU • to work together to make economies work better • to maintain peace in Europe and other countries in the world • to help poor and developing countries • to support study and work exchanges between Member States • to understand, appreciate and respect other culture and traditions to unite Europe

Advantages of being EU member • you can travel from one country to other with just a passport or identity card • you can study, work or live in any other EU country • you can sell or buy goods easier thanks to one Single Market and single currency • a small country is getting stronger if it is a part of EU political and economic system

  10. Disadvantages of being EU member • criminals can cross the frontiers more easily (terrorism, prostitutions, drugs, smuggling) • thanks to the open trade – traffic is heavier (increasing pollution) • a lot of foreign products – little support for the domestic market • we are under the control of the EU
