  1. English 10 – 10/28/13 • Do you think people today are too easily swayed by what they see on TV or hear on radio? Is it confirmation bias, cognitive miser or herd thinking? All three? Why? • Why did the chicken cross the basketball court? • Battology – Excessive repetition in speech or writing Goals – Pick debate teams. Get organized combine your resources. Homework – Get the argument and rebuttal figured out. Don’t forget to study Vocabulary # 9 for quiz Friday.

English 10 - 10/29/13 • What is more important to you, knowing you have accomplished something worth while, or getting recognition for it? • Why do hens lay eggs? • Amphigory – Writing that sounds good but lacks sense. Goals – Check dailies. Finish forming teams. Teams working to see what they have for their claims and grounds. Putting them on note cards. Homework – Complete note cards for claims and grounds. Put your initials on each.

  3. English 10 – 10/30/13 • For what in your life do you rely on yourself? For what do you rely on others? Are you mostly self- reliant? • Why did the lollipop cross the road? • Adoxography – writing cleverly on a trivial subject. Goals – Create team claim cards. Begin on grounds cards. Homework – Complete your own grounds cards.

  4. English 10 - 10/31/13 • Please look at the pictures carefully and respond. • Why did the egg cross the road? • Viaggiatory – traveling frequently. Goals – Continue to work on note cards. Grounds? Homework – Complete grounds cards for the group.

  5. English 10 - 11/1/13 • Five minutes to study for vocabulary quiz #9. • Did you hear about the chicken poet that won the pullet surprise? • Jiggle-bar – or rumble strip, the rough spots put on a highway to awaken drowsy drivers before they go off the road. Goals – Complete and correct vocabulary #9. Quarter 1 end. Homework – Make sure you are ready to work on rebuttal and closing arguments.
