September • Register with the NCAA if you are planning on play sports in college (https://web3.ncaa.org/ecwr3/) • Meet with the counselor – GROUP info. session - Review transcript. • Register for college visits at HHS in Naviance October/November/December • Continue to register for college visits at HHS in Naviance • Take the PSAT on October 10th. Score reports should arrive in December. • Attend College Planning Night on October 23rd 6:30 in the LMC. • Thursday November 1st – National College Fair in Atlantic City (Visit https://www.nacacfairs.org/attend/national-college-fairs/atlantic-city-national-college-fair/ to register) January/February/March • Discuss college/career plans with your counselor during scheduling meetings for next year. • Register for SAT or SAT Subject Test(s) or ACT – (Remember you are responsible for sending your test scores to the colleges you are applying to) First-time Junior test takers will test for FREE in March, May or June for SAT only. • Register & study for Advanced Placement Exams, if necessary. • Attend FOCUS on Your Future College Fair @ Camden County College, March 20th from 6-8 April/May/June • Take SAT or SAT Subject Test(s) or ACT • Use Naviance to prepare preliminary resume, complete your “Game Plan”, “Colleges I am Thinking About” • Ask your counselor any questions you may have regarding the college application process. Graduation Requirements • Earn 130 Credits by taking the following courses: • 4 years of English (completion of research paper & Health and PE • 3 years of History, Mathematics and Science • 1 year of a World Language • 1 year of a Visual/Performing Art • 1 year of a Career/Tech • ½ year of Financial Literacy • State Testing Requirement • PARCC • ELA 9 or 10 >= 750 • ELA 11 >= 725 • Algebra 1 >= 750 • Geometry or Algebra 2 >= 725 • Or passing an alternative assessment (ACT, SAT, PSAT, AccuPlacer, ASVAB) • Adhere to attendance policy

National Honor Society Advisor: Ms. Sarah Smith • The student must be a junior or a senior. • The student must be enrolled at HHS for at least one full semester prior to admission • The student must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher (no rounding up – a student’s GPA MUST be at least 3.50). • The student must have exhibited service to school through participation in various sports and/or co-curricular activities (students must be actively involved in TWO activities prior to their junior year to qualify and THREE activities prior to their senior year to qualify. Service in the community is also required. • The student must obtain faculty and advisor recommendations attesting to outstanding leadership qualities and unquestionable character and adhere to the constitution and bylaws.

10. Valedictorian and Salutatorian • Grade 9 Honors selections are determined by district supervisors as per district guidelines • The maximum number of Honors classes a student can be recommended for in grade 9 and 10 is four (English, Social Studies, Mathematics and Science) • In most cases, future valedictorians and salutatorians have had the maximum number of AP/Honors courses in all grades.  A fifth AP/Honors course should be considered both junior and senior years if becoming a valedictorian and/or salutatorian is a goal. Ranking (in accordance with Board Policy #2624)

11. How to Calculate GPA • Convert each numerical grade to a letter grade. Use the chart to the left. • For example an 86 would count as a “B”. • Determine the amount of points assigned to each letter grade. • For example a “B” would count as 3 points • Make sure you use the column for the correct type of class. (Honors or Regular) • Multiply the number of points by the credits for each class. • Add up all of answers you got from the previous step. • Divide by the total number of credits.
