  3. LOCATION Three biggest cities in this region… -Los Angles, CA -San Jose, CA -San Francisco, CA Major Landforms Rocky Mountains-Mountains Great Basin-Desert Yellowstone- Geysers

Location The west is in the west of the US East of the Pacific Ocean South of Canada Northwest of Mexico L.A.’s location: 34 N, 118 W Why people choose to live here People choose to live here because of the big cities in California or the beauty of the largest mountain range in the country, the Rocky Mountains.

  5. PLACE Religion- There is less people that believe in God in the West than the rest of the country. 59% of people believe in God when in other regions, about 80% of people believe. Customs- The whole US (including the west) give others presents on birthdays or major holidays, like Christmas. People are called by their first names or nicknames (if they have one) Ethnic Groups- The whole country's(including the west) ethnic groups are white, black, Asian, Amerindian or Alaska native, and Hawaiian native or other Pacific islander.

  6. Climate and weather patterns- Its warmer down by California and cooler up by Montana. The weather is mostly sunny by California and rainy and cool up by Montana. It doesn't rain much in the deserts. Major resources and landforms- Landforms- Rocky Mountains run through Idaho, Montana, Utah, Wyoming, and Colorado. The Great Basin desert and the Mojave desert run through California. Resources- Water, coal, gasoline, and solar power Due to the hot climate in the south of this region, people tend to like to live by the ocean.

  7. Human-environmental Interaction How has climate affected this region's settlement?- People in the south of this region, have to find ways to cool down in the hot climate, This means going to the beach or just having fans in your house.

  8. How has pollution affected people in this region?- Well, pollution affects people because big cities get full of trash and the land become filthy Economic Issue- The western states, along with the rest of the country faces high un-employment rates and a lot of import instead of exporting

  9. Movement Why people choose to live in this region- Some people like to live by the big cities in California or in the deserts. Others like to live in the mountain, so they live in the west. How are goods transported?- Boat, Plane, Car, Bike, Train.

  10. Interesting Traditions and Customs- In Wyoming and Colorado, some people ,live on ranches and heard cattle for a living. If one or more major transportation routes were interrupted… The route would become a stand still. People would have to find a different way to get to where they needed

  11. Region Popular tourist attractions: Yellowstone- A volcanic national park filled with geysers and wild buffalos Hollywood- The TV and Movie central of the country. This is where you can find TV studios, walk down the Hollywood Hall of Fame, and maybe even run into a couple stars. Disneyland- A Disney based theme park with rides, games, and plenty of your favorite Disney characters.

  12. Other unique characteristics- -The Rocky Mountains are the biggest Mountain Range in the country. -The San Andreas fault can and has caused earthquakes in California and the country. Economic Issues, affect on economy- Because we import more than we export, the US is in huge dept with other countries.
