Implementation in North America • Library of Congress plans • revising LCRIs and making decisions on options • these are linked in the RDA Toolkit as LC policy statements (LCPS) • analyze results from 6 month testing period with partner libraries and creating report (March 2011) • LC decision on implementation (June 2011) • Library and Archives Canada plans • familiarization • create training documentation for LAC • make decisions on options, alternatives and core elements • implement in late 2011; implementation is dependent on availability of French translation of RDA Hitchens | CASLIS | March, 2011

How to train • Start with the background: RDA principles, FRBR concepts and terminology • Highlight changes from AACR2 to RDA for common cataloguing tasks • Identify changes in the structure of the tool so that cataloguers can navigate the RDA Toolkit • Give practical examples and exercises • Allow time for follow-up sessions Hitchens | CASLIS | March, 2011
