  2. Course Outline • Aims of the course are : - To increase physical competency - To develop involvement in physical activity - To increase ability to make decisions

  3. Course Requirements • To be successful on the A Level course you will need: • Minimum Science grade B - compulsory • GCSE PE (Minimum grade C)- desired • Strong theory knowledge required due to the high demands of the course.

  4. AS Year 1 • Unit G451 – Introduction to Physical Education • Anatomy and Physiology • Acquiring Movement Skills • Social Cultural Studies • This unit counts for 60% of your overall AS grade • Assessed through 2 hour exam

  5. AS Year 1 • Unit G452 – Acquiring, developing and evaluating practical skills • Practical performance in 2 sports – this can either be as a performer, coach or as an official. • This is worth 40% of overall AS grade. • Assessed through verbal feedback to teacher and examiner.

  6. A2 Year 2 • Unit G453– Principles and concepts across different areas of physical education • Section A – Historical Studies • Section B – Biomechanics, Exercise and Sport Physiology • Worth 70% of the overall grade – Exam 2 hours 30 minutes

  7. A2 Year 2 • Unit G454 - The improvement of effective performance and the critical evaluation of practical activities. • Worth 30% of overall grade. • Assessed through verbal feedback to teacher and examiner.
