Energy of Cells Structure and function of Mitochondrion and Chloroplasts
What is a CHLOROPLAST? • It is stored in an energy storage molecules ATP and NADPH • It is used in photosynthesis to make organic molecules and free oxygen from carbon dioxide and water • It is green because there is chlorophyll pigments • It is surrounded by two lipid-bilayer membranes
Whatis MITOCHONDRION? • It is 0.5 to 1 cm in diameter • Consists of an outer membrane, an inner membrane, a cristae and matrix • The number of mitochondrion found in a cell varies widely by organism and tissue types
