J-1 Intern Program • Offered through https://www.yummyjobs.com/ • SDSU has partnered with Yummy to offer 2 weeks of pre-internship training followed by an internship in the USA. • Our Hospitality Programs in the USA provide university students and young professionals with the opportunity to train in the United States for a period of up to 12 months. They allow participants access to some of the finest hospitality brands in the world, providing a unique insight into business practices that make the United States the ultimate hospitality destination for guests from all over the world. • Our range of paid, professional internships provides on-the-job hospitality exposure within Food and Beverage or Rooms Division.  • Please review Yummy Jobs website for additional details.

  4. Eligibility • Be at least 18 years of age at the time of application. • Speak fluent English. • Be available for a 6, 9 or 12-month contract. • Be currently enrolled in full-time education at a University outside of the United States. • Studying towards an undergraduate degree in a Tourism, Hospitality or Eventsrelated subject ORhave graduated from these studies no more than 12 months prior to your program start date.

J1 Intern Program August 2019 through August 2020 (Shorter options available) • Two weeks training at SDSU • Hospitality English • American Culture and American Workplace • Career Development • 6-12 months internship with Hotels and Resorts • positions such as food and beverage, guest services, recreation, rooms and others. • 32 hours+ per week, minimum of $10.00. (unless tipped position)

J1 Intern/Trainee Program • Excellent communication ability in English as demonstrated through SKYPE interviews. • Passion for people and hospitality. • Real resume building experience • SDSU faculty advisor and access to resources of for the entire program length. • Learn to overcome challenges of daily work life!

  12. Program Structure • Pre-screening interview by SDSU, Yummy Jobs and employer • $200 application fee. Refunded if no position is offered. • If offered a position it takes about 2 months for visa to be approved. 1. Arrive in San Diego for two weeks 2. Go to internship site up to one year paid internship 3. Housing is arranged for you for a fee

  13. Cost • App fee is refundable if no position s offered, to be paid at the time of applying SDSU. • Program fee includes tuition, health Insurance, program admin and J-1 visa • Housing fee is for 2 weeks at SDSU.
