Sharing Experience • David Ulrich – his legacy • 59 hardcover books, 64 paperbacks, 2 audio books, 16 kindle books and his own page on Amazon! • Lucky enough to have seen him speak 3 times and been fed and self learnt his theories, but I can’t through his repertoire today! • Juli Oliver-Smith – my experience • 16 years experience, EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), Asia, US and UK, including 4 set up and implementations. • No academic studies but have the scars and grey hair to prove it! • TCK (Third Culture Kid) through and through

    10. Sharing Experience - Managing the Terrorists • There will be resistance • Internally • Externally • Employees & Line Managers do not ask for HR Shared Services • It was cosy before, just down the corridor • Now the Tribe has split • Immediate change – the trust has gone!

    11. Sharing Experience - Create a team The internal resistance can be as strong as the external You knew/liked your customers, can you just carry on as if nothing has happened? Shared Services is a culture your team (the one you inherited) may not want. WIIFM (what’s in it for me)?

    14. Explore - Shared Services Shared Services – what is it? HR Shared Service – what is it? Why would you create an HR Shared Service? A shared system, will not create a shared service. What works and what doesn't?

    15. Explore - Objectives • EKHRP Objectives • Efficiency Savings • Increased service resilience • Aligned business processes • HR / Payroll (self service functionality & timely management information) • Larger pool of HR expertise & specialists • Greater buying / procuring power
