Identify the Main Verb Ask yourself, What is the subject doing? • Odysseus sailed from Troy to Ithaca. • He fought many battles. • The “man skilled in all ways of contending” blinded Polyphemus. • Later, he tricked Circe. • Odysseus spent seven years with Calypso. • Poseidon smashed Odysseus’ boat against the rocks. • Zeus threw a thunderbolt at his ships. • His men feasted on the Helios’ cattle. • Odysseus slaughtered those arrogant suitors. • Penelope gave Odysseus a test.
