  2. PROJECT IDENTIFICATION This is an extremely socially relevant topic in these times. Many people are being killed on the roads of India today due to rash , reckless, or negligent driving practices. A huge number of these casualties are caused by students and youngsters. Even in the newspapers the reports of lost lives continue to horrify and sadden us. It is this realisation of the need of promoting safe driving practices among the students of our college and youngsters as a whole that inspired us to take up this project of ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS

  3. PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION We wanted the Road Safety Awareness campaign to be intellectually stimulative for the students, hence we put forward a few events that we launched the following activities. 1 . An open caption contest 2. A video presentation The team worked in perfect harmony and there was equal effort by all members.

  5. A DRIVING LICENCE IS A LICENCE TO DRIVE AND NOT A LICENCE TO KILL Winning entry in the open canvas contest

  6. Challenges ENCOUNTERED AND RESOLVED The student body of our college were very receptive to the idea of an open caption contest, however some students found this as oppurtunity for mischief. We were forced to remove the canvas almost 4 times because of unecessary comments by students. However we have taken this in good spirit and inspite of this we received quite a few good captions from students.

  7. Challenges ENCOUNTERED AND RESOLVED We as a team also wanted to conduct a seminar on safe driving practices. However our team member Sachi who travelled to Kollam to meet a concerned official from the KOLLAM RTO but his request for a seminar was politely declined by authorities citing issues with dates. Resolution to the above problem. We decided to forward the winning captions to the traffic IG to place on hoardings around kerala to take the campaign to the general public.

  8. Success failure assessment As far as the public outreach of the campaign is concerned we would say that the campaign was a grand success . The video presentation was watched by many students as it was displayed in the lobby. The caption contest also drew attention of many students to the cause of ROAD SAFETY

  9. Key project learnings We learned the art of working as a team. The principles of hard work and the importance of performing above and beyond the call of duty as we helped each other in their difficulties . And in the true spirit of dedication and team work we have indeed become better individuals.
