  3. Highlights of POCN Accomplishments in 2007-08 • Proposal for Division of Inclusion and Equity • Search for new vice-president • Participation in Diversity Assessment Committee subcommittees • Participation in and revision of Inclusion Advocates • Review of POCN membership needs

  4. Proposed agenda for 2008-09 Membership Survey Climate Survey Welcoming committee task force Website task force

  5. Membership Survey Participation in POCN has declined. We would like to know why people are not participating in the organization. The survey will also give us a chance to learn more about the needs of members, with the goal of creating programming to address those needs. To accomplish this, propose the creation of an ad hoc committee that would create the survey, analyze its results, and write a summary report for POCN membership

  6. Climate Survey POCN would like to know where we, GVSU, is. Several years ago a climate survey was done, and it time for a new survey to be conducted. We propose that this survey be done in collaboration with the Division of Inclusion and Equity. Information gained can be compared with information from both the Pat Oldt climate survey, and information independently obtained by Nannette Reynolds, which would tell us if progress is being made. It will also identify issues that need to be addressed, either by POCN, the Division of Inclusion and Equity, or both groups. To accomplish this, propose the creation of an ad hoc committee that would create the survey, analyze its results, and write a summary report for POCN membership

  7. Welcoming Committee Task Force One of the original goals of POCN was to create a welcoming committee. While several attempts were made, this part of POCN never came to full existence. Propose that a task force be created that would establish a welcoming packet, and additional welcoming agenda items.

  8. Website Task Force The POCN website is in great need of attention. It is proposed that a task force be created to redesign the website, so that it is informative, up to date, and user friendly.

  9. Taskforces and their timeframes are: Membership survey-Start now. Do survey in Feb., results in April [info will be used over the summer to set agenda for next year] Climate survey-Start now. Do survey in March, results in May? Welcoming Committee task force- Sept. to Nov. Begin welcoming activities in Jan. Website-Sept. to Nov. Present new website at Winter POCN meeting. So use rest of fall semester to implement new website

  10. Elections Positions Open: All, including President Timeframe: Nominations: Open as of today, until Sept. 30th Voting: Online from Oct. 1st to Oct. 12th New officers begin Oct. 15th
