  4. Research objectives • Problem-oriented quantitative survey on musicalbehaviour; • considerationofsocialstructuralcharacteristics (age, education, gender, …); • regard on high dataquality.

  5. Fundamental assumptions • Identity constructionbythewayofaffirmationanddistinctionisoneofthemaindevelopmenttasksofyoungpeople. • Demonstrative musicreceptionisoneofthemostprovedstrategiesofdistinction. • Music receptionbehaviourisstronglyaffectedbyageandeducationofthelisteners.

  6. Outcomesofthedigitalisation • Recordedmusicnolongerrequires a physicalstorage medium. • Via „theinternet“ a great deal ofmusicisavailableatany time (withoutpayment).
