India on Thursday said it is intently planning with China to bring back 16 Indian mariners who are abandoned on a payload transport in Chinese waters for almost four months. 39 Indian team individuals are abandoned on two payload ships in Chinese waters out of whom 23 who are stuck on board MV Jag Anand are getting back to India. "As respects MV Anastasia, we are intently organizing with the Chinese specialists who are concluding the cycle or SOP (standard working technique) to impact group change at dock," External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said at a media instructions.

  3. "When this is gotten from the Chinese specialists, the organization (that possesses the boat) is required to start the cycle of group change," he said. Srivastava said the MEA and the Indian mission in China have been consistently seeking after the issue of team change of Indian mariners on board the two boats. "On MV Jag Anand, the proprietor which is the Great Eastern Shipping Company has educated that they had chosen to attempt the group change in Chiba, Japan, where the boat will land 23 team individuals and take on 23 substitution team individuals. The landing team will be flown back to the places where they grew up in India from Tokyo," he said.

Recently, India looked for "earnest, viable and time-bound" help to 39 Indian mariners abandoned on the two boats considering the "grave" compassionate circumstance creating on board the vessels. Refering to Covid related limitations, Chinese specialists didn't permit the boats to one or the other harbor or go for a group change for quite a long time. Indian mass payload vessel MV Jag Anand, with 23 Indian mariners, had been on mooring close to Jingtang port in Hebei territory of China since June 13 a year ago while MV Anastasia, with 16 Indians as its group, has been on dock close to Caofeidian port since September 20.

  5. Association Shipping Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on January 9 said that the Indian mariners on board MV Jag Anand would arrive at India this week.
