  2. Lateral epicondylitis (cont) • Treatment: • Rest • Splinting • NSAIDs • U/S • Local steroid injection

  3. Lateral epicondylitis (cont) • Prognosis: • Self-limiting (improve within 1 year) • Recurrence in manual workers • Resistant cases: • 10% fail to respond • MUA • Surgical lateral release procedure

  4. Shoulder pain • Referred: • Cervical spine • Articular: • Glenohumeral • OA ; - Inflammatory, e.g. RA • Acromioclavicular joint arthritis • Periarticular: • Rotator cuff syndrome

  5. Rotator cuff disorders • Supraspinatus most common • Spectrum: tendinitis ----- tear • Impingement between humeral head & coracoacromial arch

  7. Rotator cuff tendinitis • Pain worse when sleeping on shoulder • Painful active movements • Painful arc of abduction 60-110 degrees • Passive ROM normal • Pain on resisted movement

  8. Rotator cuff tendinitis (cont) • Treatment: • Rest • NSAIDs • Steroid/LA injection into SAB • Rotator cuff exercises • Surgery - if fail to respond within 1 year • acromioplasty & resection of coracoacromial ligt
