  3. I know I may be a slave. But I’ve got feelings too. And I need to do what I feel like doing. So let me go and just listen. All you people look at us like we’re way below you. You may be white and your clothes look a’ight. But we all have feelings too.  What’s happening everyday ain’t no surprise no more. Treated like filthy animals, our bruises are so sore. Get it, get it, get it, get it. What. Get it, get it, get it, get it. Whaaat. Get it, get it, get it, get it. Huh, huh, huh, huh. Get it, get it, get it, get it. What. Get it, get it, get it, get it. Whaaat. Get it, get it, get it, get it. Huh, huh, huh, huh Slavin’ all day in the cotton fields. Our masters were so cruel. With whips in hand, clubs, and pans, They whooped us all like fools.  Then the Libs came along and brought back the Federal laws. A civil war then ensued and all hell broke loose. Slav’ry was the cause. Chorus We were slaves for you. You cannot hold us. You can’t control us, baby. We were slaves for you. We cannot hide it. We won’t deny it baby. Baby, a big war now. It’s not a time to cry. Baby, the north won now. We won back our pride.  Abe really wanted to, set all slaves free. Abe really wanted to, all that will be. Oh no, it wasn’t that great, we still were number two. Oh no, it’s a shame now. We couldn’t even sue. Baby, we could vote now, more land for me. to a somewhat small degree. Baby, reconstruction and lynching legal, To an inequality. (dance) Chorus Separate but equal was their claim, we blacks had little say. Segregated communities and unequal opp’tunities. Not to mention unequal pay. The Black panthers and Malcolm X, just to name a few, Civil rights and MLK, they all knew what to do. Chorus Repeat Chorus  (Like that)   Writings and Poems“We Were Slaves 4 You”
