  2. Bad Things • Drugs are bad for you because they mess with your head!! • Smoking can cause cancer! • Smoking also makes you stink! • Alcohol can cause liver failure and kidney failure!

  3. But… • In the years of 1999-2007 Weed did not kill a single person through out the US. • Smoking tobacco had the most deaths with 435,000 • Alcohol was third with 23,199 • Any other drug use killed 11,295

  4. In the years 1999-2000, weed had the less deaths with 0 deaths

  5. Bad Things Part 2 • Using needles to do drugs can give you aids when using a dirty or used needle! • They can make you do things that you won’t remember. • They can damage parts of your body. When using needles, you draw blood and form scabs which sometime you peel of for another shot.

  6. Alcohol can make you hallucinate or imagine unusual things. Alcohol gives you liver disease. Almost 80% of high school students have tried alcohol. Alcohol is created when grains, fruits, or vegetables are fermented. Fermentation is a process that uses yeast or bacteria to change the sugars in the food into alcohol. Effects of Alcohol

  7. Most Commonly Abused Drugs • Nicotine • Alcohol (ethyl alcohol) • Marijuana • Heroin • Cocaine • Hemp • Meth(crystalized)

  8. What Happens when on Drugs… • A side effect is usually regarded as an undesirable secondary effect which occurs in addition to the desired therapeutic effect of a drug or medication. Side effects may vary for each individual depending on the person's disease state, age, weight, gender, ethnicity and general health. • Side effects can occur when commencing, decreasing/increasing dosages, or ending a drug or medication regimen. Side effects may also lead to non-compliance with prescribed treatment. When side effects of a drug or medication are severe, the dosage may be adjusted or a second medication may be prescribed. Lifestyle or dietary changes may also help to minimize side effects. Weed and other drugs are now sold to people with a prescriptions.
