  1. “Wisdom, how do we get it and what does it do?” Proverbs 2:1-10

  2. Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered. Proverbs 28:26

  3. When do you most feel connected to God? How much of a role does stress and anxiety play in your life? What major themes have dominated your thinking this past week? Who have you sought to love with your wisdom this past week?

  4. Mark 12:29-31

  5. Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

  8. Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom.

  9. But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice.

  10. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

  11. 1. Wisdom and understanding form the foundation for everything we think and do. Proverbs 2:1-2

  12. My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you,

  13. making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding;

  15. Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

  16. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

  17. 2. Wisdom and insight do not come to us, they must be sought and found. Proverbs 2:3-4

  18. yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding,

  19. if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures,

  20. 3. When we find wisdom, we find ourselves connected to God. Proverbs 2:5-8

  21. He who strives after wisdom earnestly and really, reaches in this way fellowship with God; for just as He gives wisdom, it is nowhere else than with Him, and it never comes from any other source than from Him. -Keil and Delitzsch

  22. then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.

  23. For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding;

  24. He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk in integrity, guarding the paths of justice and watching over the way of His saints.

  25. 4. When we find wisdom, we find the life of God. Proverbs 2:9-10

  26. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

  27. Then you will understand righteousness and justice and equity, every good path;

  28. for wisdom will come into your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul;

  29. "pleasant," describes a quality that attracts one to an object—so knowledge is attractive and attracting. When a person assimilates wisdom, doing right becomes attractive and delightful; for he sees the advantage of it. - Toy
